Justin Martel, Ph.D.
Dr. Martel is a life-long learner and athlete who began competing in sports as a young swimmer in New Hampshire. He experimented with every sport he could as a child and now professionally promotes sport diversification for youth who somewhere down the road hope to specialize. He was a three-sport athlete in high school playing football, basketball, and track. He continued to pursue football, where he was a 4-year starter and all-conference selection at NCAA Division-1 Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Upon completion of his Bachelor’s in Psychology, he went on to pursue a Master’s in Applied Psychology before pursuing his Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Florida.
While at the University of Florida, Justin specialized in counseling and sport psychology. During his doctoral training, he worked across multiple settings working in local schools, UF’s Health Psychology Clinic, the UF athletic department, in addition to working in a private practice with professional and youth athletes across the state. In addition to his work in sport psychology, Justin turned his own athletic pursuits toward golf, competing at the club level for the University of Florida, and currently competing in state and USGA events. He utilizes skills he’s learned in both his own competitive endeavors in addition to evidence-based methodology throughout his extensive education.
